Purposes of Photography

1. To Control

I found this image on this site here, which is used as an example on an Ontario drivers licence. This photo is an example of how the government uses photos to control. The licence has the persons photo, personal information and card number. The photo is to 'link' the card to the set person, so they will be the only person able to use the card. This licence controls who can drive and to identify the person who can drive.

i found this image on this site here, being used as an example of a student card. this is another example of how the Government, and schools, use photos to control. The card has a photo of the person, their name, card number and code and what school it is. Student cards are used to identify who the student is, and where they go to school. Without this card, students wouldn't be able to go on trips, take out books, play on sport teams, and at certain schools, open doors. These cards are used to control what a student can do outside and inside they're school.

2. To Inform

I found this photo on this site here, which is a photo from the Golden Globe Awards 2016. This photo is an example of using photos to inform people. This photo has a women, Cate Blanchette, who attended the Golden Globe Awards and a sign behind her with the event name. Photos of events such as this are used to inform the viewer who was there, what the event was, and what happened at the event.

I found this photo on this site here, which is a photo of Pluto's largest moon Charon. This photo is a great example of how photos can be used to inform people. This photo is a picture of Charon, Pluto's largest moon in high resolution. Photos such as these are used to inform people of the galaxy we live in, by showing us what it looks like and what is out there. 

3. To Advertise

I found this photo on this site here, which is a photo of one of Mcdonalds advertisements. This photo is an example of how photos can be used for advertisement. This photo is of three different types of food you can order at Mcdonalds, their prices, and what is included in the meal. Photos from fast food restaurants are used to advertise what they are currently selling, trying to make people come for what they're advertising. 

I found this photo on this site here, which is a photo of make up advertising. This photo is a good example of how photos can be used for advertisement. This photo is starring Megan Fox, wearing mascara by Giorgio Armani, showing what it can to do your eyelashes. Photos used by make up companies usually star someone famous, in hopes that the advertisement will make their fans want to buy whatever is in the advertisement. 

4. To Educate

I found this photo on this site here, which is a photo of a math textbook cover. This photo is a good example of how photos can be used to educate. This photo has three 3D shapes on it, and shined in areas. These images are used to show what the student can learn about in the textbook. Textbooks will usually use photos related to the course to educate the holder what they can learn about in the book. 

I found this photo on this site here, which is a photo of the periodic table. This photo is a great example of how photos can be used to educate. This photo is of the periodic table of elements, and contains each elements atomic number, mass, charge, and a colour coding for what is type there is. These images are used to educate students and others on what in science they will need to know. 

5. to Entertain

I found this photo on this site here, which is a photo of two kittens. This photo is an example of how photos can be used to entertain people. This photo is of two kittens, riding on a bike with an umbrella. This photo would be used to entertain people who like cats. Photos of animals are used to entertain us, sometimes being funny or having an aww factor to them. 

I found this photo on this site here, which is of flowers. This photo is an example of how photos can be used to entertain people. This photo is  of multiple white and pink flowers outside. This photo could entertain anyone whom likes flowers. Photos of nature entertain people by showing them things they like and may not be able to see in real life where they live.
